All awards delivered in CCL are FETAC accredited. Awards are placed at Level 5 and 6 on the National Framework.
Quality and Qualifications Ireland was established on 6 November 2012 under the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012. The new Authority is being created by an amalgamation of four bodies that have both awarding and quality assurance responsibilities: the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC), the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC), the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI) and the Irish Universities Quality Board (IUQB). The new Authority will assume all the functions of the four legacy bodies while also having responsibility for new or newly statutory responsibilities in particular areas. Progression through CAO with a FETAC Level 5 and Level 6 award. A new scoring system has been agreed for all Level 5 and 6 awards, providing access through CAO to the first year of programmes leading to awards at levels 6, 7 and 8. This will be applied from 2013.
For FETAC CAO applicants there are forty higher education institutions including universities,
institutes of technology and private third level colleges offering places on a variety of courses.
In addition to the Higher Education Links Scheme (HELS) which links specific FETAC Level 5 Certificates and some Level 6 Advanced Certificates to a number of reserved places on higher education courses in the Institutes of Technology.
