This course provides essential elements of knowledge, competence and skill for academic progression or employment within the healthcare setting. The course provides the foundation skills and entry requirements to Degree Progammes in Ireland and the UK. The course encourages an appreciation of the work involved in caring for all age groups, and emphasises the importance of interpersonal communication.

I attended Central College Limerick in September 2018. I did the Pre Nursing course. From this course I gained alot of knowledge and work experience in the line of Nursing. I couldn’t recommend this college enough as the tutors are more than helpful and were willing to assist me all the way. This course in CCL has been very successful for me as I got offered Nursing in Napier University Edinburgh, Stirling University Scotland and University College Cork. I’m currently studying Nursing in UCC and couldn’t be happier. I got offered my first choice on my CAO in the first round offers. Advice I’d give to current students doing the Pre Nursing course is to work hard, keep on top of your assignments and make the most of your work experience.

Entry Requirements:
Education: The standard entry requirements for courses are as follows: • Applicants must have Leaving Certificate, LCA or equivalent • Holders of a QQI Level 4 Award are also eligible to apply. NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme. • Mature learners (over 23) may be exempt from the above academic requirements
In addition applicants will have to undertake an interview.
CERF (Common European Framework of Reference) proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English. Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and they may be subject to full international fees.
To access programmes leading to a particular award, the learner should have reached the standards of knowledge, skill and competence associated with the preceding level of the National Framework of Qualifications, i.e. to access a Level 6 programme, the learner must have achieved a Level 5 qualification.
Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with others responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.
