Leaving Certificate or LCA Holders of a QQI Level 4 Award are eligible to apply. Mature students over 23 may be exempt from the above academic requirements. Applicants will have to undertake an interview and may be subject to Garda Vetting.

This programme is suitable for learners who wish to work in a variety of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) settings such as day care, preschools, crèches, home child-minding, as a special needs assistant and in after school centres. The theoretical and practical skills required for working with children form the core of the programme. On the successful completion of this major award at Level 5, candidates may choose to study for a Level 6 award at this college, enter the workforce or progress to Higher Education Institutions.
